CUPS can not report printer status change

I have a windows XP and SUSE 9.1 connected to the same network printer. 
Windows machine connects to the printer through a printerserver. SUSE 
connects to the printer through IPP.

After I submitted job to the printer through windows, CUPS is still 
reporting the printer status idle. (http://127.0.0.1:631/printers) CUPS 
could not see any jobs.

If I submit jobs though SUSE, CUPS can report printer status change and job 
status. (Another issue is after CUPS reports job completed, the printer is 
still printing/some times haven't started printing)

Anybody knows why?
