Hi!

I always try to install the original driver.
- go to the Xerox-Homepage, look for the PPD-files for Windows (XP/2000).
- Install the printer on a windows system (select the postscript driver)
- find the ppd-file in the windows-tree.
- copy this ppd-file on your CUPS/Linux server
- there, try the lpadmin command:
	 lpadmin -p <printer-name> -E -P <ppd-filename> -v
lpd://<Xerox-Printer-Hostname>/PS

This works for a Xerox-Phaser 850DP.
