Maximum number of printers polled

Has anyone seen an issue where a polling cups host doesn't pull all of the printers?

I'm currently only able to poll 483 printers on one of my cups servers. We have two cups servers that have around 500 printers on each one. I have a master cups server which polls two cups servers. This is for load balancing. The two cups servers have the exact same printer list. All three servers are running Linux.

I've tried increasing max_files on the master server but it doesn't seem to help. One thing I can admit is that the sub-servers are running 2.6 kernels and the master is running a 2.4 kernel. I plan on resolving this shortly but I'm still concerned. The two sub-servers never finish polling each other either so I'm a bit concerned. I'd hate to have to break the printers up across multiple servers.
