Correcting margins

When printing to a Samsung ML1210 (driver 'gdi', as suggested during the setup) I seem to have a problem with the margins on the paper.  Text printed from a plain text file using `lp foo.txt` appears too far up and left on the page.  Is it possible to correct this globally somehow?  At present, I'm missing about 2 characters from the left edge of the page on each line.
