Windows Clients keep finished jobs in Queue

Well add me to the list. Our office has a LPD-based Sharp printer/copier that Windows 98 clients need to print to. I configured the copier as a remote printer on our Redhat 9.0 server and then shared it via samba v3.0.7 and cups so the Win98 clients could print to it. But all the jobs remain in the print queues of the Win98 clients even after they have printed, unless the owner (or root) deletes them manually. Is this related to the fact that the printer share is actually remote (via IPP/LPD/LPR printing) from the Samba/Cups servers? Are the other people with this problem using locally connected (to the Cups server) printers or not? Thanks for any information that may lead to a solution.
