polld - on the lose

Hi all.

This has been happening for sometime now on different systems running
with the same OS, Solaris, and the same CUPS version, 1.1.18.

We'd get a call from our users reporting they can't print anymore. When I go into the client and do an "lpstat -a", there are no printers listed. And when I do a "ps -ef|grep -i cups", I noticed the polld is
accumulating a good amount of cpu time and its constantly increasing.

See the following:

sapds02f# while :;do
> ps -ef|grep -i cups|grep 12.65
> sleep 1
> done

polld is eating-up CPU time:
    cups 5601 5579 20 Sep 09 ? 1748:37 cups-polld 10.208.12.65 631 30 631

after stop/starting cupsd(it's back to normal):

Can anyone tell me what's going on here? How often does the polld daemon poll the server for printers?

Is there a bug in .18 that causes the process to runaway and should I upgrade to .20?

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Thanks!
Angel
