[cups.general] duplex doesn't work - please help

I don't use any driver just the HP_LaserJet_4050_Series.ppd
since the printer understands Postscript.
If I add the line
<esc>%-12345X at PJL SET DUPLEX = ON
to the file and send it via netcat to the printer it does print
duplex.
