Inspect the CUPS error_log for details.
Regarding how to get detailed log messages see for example
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-nutshell.html
"If problems are encountered..."
Perhaps corrupted files of the CUPS system (e.g. caused by an update
of the cups RPM packages while the cupsd was active running)
are the reason.
In this case have a look at
http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-Jun/4134.html
and if this doesn't help see
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/07/pohletz_cups_manual_reinstall.html
Kind Regards
