Adding backends...

I've got a cups server  running with a pap backend to drive a number of 
legacy Appletalk devices.  These are are all set up as raw queues - the
clients provide the PostScript.  One device needs a modified pap backend.
I've called this papb. However, when I try and add the device using the
web admin,  I get client-error-not-possible.  I was able to add the 
original pap backend without any trouble. What am I missing?
