LogLevel & CUPS

Hello,
I am using  cups 1.1.18  in Linux Suse 9.1 Environment. I am writing a new filter ( backend ) for cups. In cupsd.conf, there is "LogLevel" directive ( debug, info, warning, error) which controls logging of messages to the cups log file. I need to know what loglevel is set in cupsd.conf, in my filter program.  I searched the CUPS API and did not find anything to get this loglevel info.
Is there anyway to get this information in the filter program
