cups-pdf (SuSe Linux 9.3 - Kernel 2.6.11)

Hi all,

I am running SUSE Linux 9.3 Kernel 2.6.11.......

I am having some problems with "cups-pdf": After having downloaded the "tar-ball" ( cups-pdf_1.7.3.tar.gz) I have compiled successfully the related program.

gcc -O9 -o /usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf  cups-pdf.c

After the compliling of the source I did restart the CUPS deamon:

/etc/init.d/cups restart

My problem is that I do not see the "printer" in the list of the known printers:

lpinfo -v | grep cups-pdf


Please help: What am I doing wrong?
