Hi there,

I'm very pleased to announce the immediate availability of
pkpgcounter v1.61

pkpgcounter is a command line tool and Python library licensed under
the terms of the GNU GPL, and distributed from :

  http://www.librelogiciel.com/software/pkpgcounter/action_Presentation

pkpgcounter parses printable files, and outputs the number of pages
in them.

The recent versions feature more input formats, as well as more
accuracy.

pkpgcounter used to exist as part of our PyKota print quota and
accounting solution for CUPS and LPRng, but is now only available
separately, and completely free of charge, contrarily to PyKota.

pkpgcounter currently recognizes the following formats :

  - PostScript (both DSC compliant and binary)

  - PCLXL (aka PCL6) up to Class 2.0 (lack of doc for 2.1 and +)

  - PDF

  - PCL3/4/5 (still with some problems)

  - ESC/P2

  - DVI

  - TIFF

  - OpenOffice.org Writer

  - OpenOffice.org Impress

In the future other formats and possibilities will be added.

NB : speed is currently NOT the goal in pkpgcounter, but accuracy is.
You can anyway greatly increase parsing speed by installing the
Python accelerator Psyco (http://psyco.sf.net) if your architecture
supports it.

If pkpgcounter doesn't correctly parse a printable file of yours,
please make this file available to us.

Thank you for reading.
