Reading counter with cups

Hello.

I've been trying to prepare print accounting at work with Samba and CUPS. I don't want to use page_log, because I'd like to get better data from the printer internal counter, an HP LaserJet 4050n.

I didn't find any option which helps me with this in cups, not a "command before printing" and "command after printing" or anything.

Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks.
