Cups problems

What I did:
Installed a SCSI card in system.

Symptoms:
Upon reboot, system hangs on cupsys start from /etc/rc2.d on
a debian sid box.

What I did:
removed cupsys from rc2.d, started by hand after full boot.

Symptoms:
Can print a test page from the localhost:631 gui, can't print
from lpr. lpr: error - unable to print file: server-error-service-unavailable

What I did:
apt-get install cupsys cupsys-bsd etc etc

Symptoms:
cupsys hangs upon apt-get's restart of service.

Obviously, the quick fix is uninstall the scsi card,
but i was hoping/wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

Thanks!

David
