Hi all-

Messed around most all day with this w/no luck.

I have:

Mostly stock Debian Woody distro on Mac powerpc Pismo laptop.
apt-get'd CUPS today and installed.
Netatalk previously installed.

LaserJet 2100 TN with JetDirect 600 3110a.

Found Thomas Kaiser's pap backend script, placed in
     /usr/lib/cups/backend and made executable.

lpinfo -v shows pap as a device, along with my printer.

Used Lynx <http://localhost:631/admin> to setup LaserJet.
     recogizes pap and provides <pap://%2a/PET/LaserWriter>
as a choice in the "add printer" sequence.

Selected 'HP' as model/device and the LaserJet .ppd that comes with CUPS
as .ppd: 'HP LaserJet Series CUPS v1.1 (en)'.

I've rebooted, so presumably CUPS has restarted.

Of course, can't get anything to print.

I can 'pap -p PET test.txt' and get a printout.

I can 'lp -d PET test.txt' and see the job created, but
it's listed as cancelled after a while.

.. . . . . . . . . . . . .

So it seems that I can print via pap/netatalk and can put a print job in
a CUPS queue via lp. But I'm unclear what in between in giving me
trouble. Startup says CUPS lp can't find any devices, because it's
running before Netatalk does. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Charles
