keeping job on hold until receiving print command

Hi!

Is the following situation possible with CUPS?

Users at workstations print their documents. The documents are placed into a queue but not printed immediately. The user then walks to a printer that has, let's say, a linux box aside it and enters his username and password. Only then his documents will be printed out.

I'm interested in two scenarios for this:
1) there is a cups server for each network printer and the user must select the printer to which he wants to print. The user the has to walk to the specific printer.

2) there is only one central print queue that sends the printjob to the respective printer based on the information from where the user entered its credentials. The user can go to any printer connected to the network.

I hope the question is understandable enough :)
Thanks in advance.
