CupsClient and Server passwords

I know I am getting to be a pest, but trying to solve an abuse of our high speed printer problem.

I have the Cups server running. I have tried the new program CupsClient for Windows. I can get it to run and configure a printer. If I use "Authtype=none" in Cupsd.conf, I can print from my Windows machine with no problem through the Cups Server to network printer. When I change the "Authtype" to "Digest". I get a message of "access denied" or "you do not have authority." I do not get a box on the screen asking me to furnish a id and password.

I know that if I set the printer up through SAMBA as a cups printer, I can get Windows to ask for an id and password.

Is there a way with CupsClient to get Windows XP to furnish a box and ask for an id and password? Would this be XP problem or could CupsClient be designed to request an id and password when you try to use a printer configured on the XP machine via CupsClient?

I am trying to avoid having to set a SAMBA system up, but will if necessary.

Thanks for any possible assistance.
