Cups doesn't recognize parallel port

I had a similar problem. I had to get the cups source and compile it. I then replaced the parallel backend that ships with the Debian Alpha 3.1rc2
package with my compiled one. Lpinfo -v still did not show the parallel port, but the web interface finally did.
