Printer escp2-c84 is not a known model, update 1.1.18 to 1.1.22,

Many of my customers have Suse 8.2  with 2.4.26, (cups 1.1.18, 
Ghostscript 7.05) and lots of printers for simple operations 
(black/white, printing chars only, but NLS) like Epson C84 don't work. I 
updated CUPS to 1.1.22 for Suse 8.2 
(ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/people/kssingvo/unsupported/CUPS/8.2/RPMS/)
but drivers were missing. I copied Stylus_C84-gimp-print.ppd.gz from 
Suse 9.2 (Cups 1.1.21, not 22!) and installed a printer queue with 
CUPS-html-tool. But nothing was printed.

Looking into /var/log/cups/error_log  with loglevel=debug I could detect 
  leaving foomatic-rip. Then I downloaded a new foomatic-rip from 
linuxprinting.org. (and the latest foomatic-gswrapper) an copied the 
files to /usr/bin  with chmod +x ... . Then I get the error: Printer 
escp2-c84 is not a known model.

Who claims the model? Ghostscript?
I downloaded ghostscript-8.15. Is it the solution?
