gs 8.15 printing quality

Hi, we need help once more...

we have OKI dot-matrix-printers. We can't use plain text printing because the documents contain symbols (barcodes, simple logos). In the past with foomatic-rip 3.26 and gs 7.05 it worked fine. Now with foomatic-rip 3.48 and gs 8.15 (imported by SuSE 9.3) the print quality is really bad. For example the equal-sign is a fat bar rather than two separated lines. We use the same PPD as before, gs still uses okiibm. Before we start with further investigations I want ask this forum for any hints explaining the problem.
