[cups.general] Problems with Cups and Samba

Hi Michael,

I really was a pain in the behind when I was testing adding the printers
on my cups+samba server for XP SP2 hosts.

Here's a stab at your problem: What printer drivers are you trying to
use is your user allowed to install a printer? Are you using the older
kernel mode NT 4.0 drivers? It's been a while, but Windows XP and 2003
really don't like using them and perhaps that is where you are running
into permission problems.

<cut from my old notes>
In my testing, the best way was to add the driver to the Samba server is
through the Windows Add Printer Wizard as administrator and then
checking it.

Check and see what the associated information is with the print queue.
rpcclient -Uadminact servername -c 'getprinter bw 2'
rpcclient -Uadminact servername -c 'setdriver bw "HP LaserJet 9000 PS"'
