REgarding the book on cups,how is it differentfrom the free docs?

I'd say: Unless essentially *all* current Linux distributions did make serious backgress instead of progress over the last 5 years, this should make good enough arguments in favor of CUPS versus other systems. Because they all moved away from other systems, and towards CUPS.

Not to speak of Apple with OS X. (They also changed to CUPS).
