CUPS & strange USB printers problem

Epson printers don't provide a unique serial number we can use, so
currently you are SOL.  Apple's USB code can generate a serial number
if one is missing, and hopefully we will be able to do so as well
when we start using libusb or the raw kernel interfaces.
