Can you make the first page print from a different tray?

Put

  FileDevice Yes

into cupsd.conf, and restart cupsd. Then it should work to set up
a simple file printer:

  lpadmin -p fileprinter -E -v file:/tmp/psfile.ps -P /etc/cups/ppd/ricoh1060.ppd
