[cups.general] Too short line length

Setup:
Gentoo linux (kernel 2.6.18)
Cups-1.2.5

How can I control the length of line cups prints?

In this command the right margins is apparently ignored:

 lp  -o lpi=7 -o cpi=6 -o page-left=39   -o page-right=36 
     -o  page-top=45 -o page-bottom=39  
     -d chub-smbprint  Test.txt

Lines appear to be broken  around 40-50 characters.

`Printing Options' of online manual does not appear to explain how
line length is goverened. (other than margins)

Font is not mentioned either

A search of `all documents' with string `font' returns one hit that
appear not to be related to choosing or setting size:
  FontPath (in cupsd.conf)
