Jobs don't print until web interface .cgi program executed

Hi All,
I've managed to build CUPS & gutenprint on OS/2and printing works
quite nicely to an ipp or lpd server - still need to work on USB
support.
However, after I print a job - it sits there doing nothing, UNTIL I
access localhost:631/printers.cgi or localhost:631/jobs.cgi and then
the job prints.
error_log indicates the following:
d [29/Dec/2006:13:27:26 -09-30] cupsdDoSelect: select() returned 0...
d [29/Dec/2006:13:27:26 -09-30] cupsdCheckJobs: 1 active jobs,
sleeping=0, reload=0
d [29/Dec/2006:13:27:26 -09-30] cupsdCheckJobs: Job 29: state_value=5,
loaded=yes
d [29/Dec/2006:13:27:26 -09-30] select_timeout: 8 seconds to send
browse update
d [29/Dec/2006:13:27:26 -09-30] cupsdDoSelect: selecting 17 fds for 8
seconds...
this repeats every 8 seconds or so until something is run and then it
prints.
During this time, lpd is still running.
I guess this could be a bug in the ported code somewhere, but could
also be a configuration issue. Anyone seen anything like this before?
