Label printing on Epson dot matrix printer

I have just installed the Xandros 3.0.2 Linux distro on a computer at the
office. This computer uses tn5250/lp5250d to communicate with, and print
labels from, an IBM AS/400. The label printer is an Epson LQ-570e 24-pin
dot matrix printer.
The problem appears when I try to print a series of labels from the
AS/400. Only the first label prints, then the printer 'ejects' the page,
and never prints the remaining labels.
I have the data stream that is being sent to the printer, so I can verify
that the labels are being sent. That narrows down the problem to the cups
driver for the Epson.
To complicate matters, Xandros seems to use a somewhat non-standard layout
for keeping *.ppd files. I can find ppd files in /etc/cups/ppd, but also
in /var/lib/aps. I am using the 'generic' ppd file for 24 pin Epson
printers.
So, I guess what I need help with is this: how to I configure the Epson
options to go to the top of the next label on receipt of a form-feed, and
continue printing from there?
FWIW, I am trying to RTFM, but it may take a while for me to figure this
all out on my own.
