no serial backend

i been searching and no luck in answer.
need to print to a serial port or usb to serial device.
yes all on a stand alone computer.
see ttyS0 and ttyUSB0
can cat filename > /dev/ttyS0 and cat filename > /dev/ttyUSB0
lpinfo -v does not show ttyS0 or ttyUSB0 only show parallel and usb ports
no file
/usr/lib/cups/backend/serial

no file only parallel ,usb ,
