hpG55 usb printing

Hello, My hpG55 prints fine in parallel mode. In usb mode, after configuring, it does not print a test page. I have Fedora Core 3 kernel 2.6.9-1.667, hpijs-1.6, CUPS 1.1.22, and hpG55.ppd. The CUPS Mini-HOWTO says the /dev/ file system should contain "crw-rw--- 1 lp sys 180, 0 Jan 4 19:34 /dev/usb/lp0" My /dev/ files show only /dev/usb/lpo and properties show 0 bytes and -rw-rw---. It passes cupstestppd hpG55.ppd. The error messages are "Adding start banner page "none" to job 566", "Adding end banner page "none" to job 566", "Job 566 queued on 'hpG55' by 'root'", "Started filter /usb/lib/cups/filter/pstops(PID3174)for job 566","Started  filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip(PID3175)for job 566","Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb(PID3176)for job 566". Please tell me what to do? Thanks, Larry
