i would try t get the debian box to send the hostname with what ever dhcp
client they use or install dhcpcd.  if that fails..  youi might try to add
the debian box ip to /etc/hosts osx, but i think that is a bad hack to
fix that.

is cups set up to print to it by ip or name ?  i think you can add the ip
and host name to /etc/hosts, but not sure.

not sure how to fix that on debian.  i dont think debian using dhcpcd, if
you use that then edit you conf file...    dhcpcd -h myname
then the router will see it
