printing to a file

I am using cups to send a print job, to a file.

I have that part working fine.

After the print job is saved to a file, I want the send it to three other printers.

Going to do this with a cron job.

How can i tell if CUPS is finished saving to the file?

I want to make sure CUPS is done writing to the file, before my scripts start working on it.

Any ideas?  Maybe check a log file?
