The printer is using IPP. The printers.conf entry for it is:

<Printer _A_B_C_D>
Info salex-6100
Location salex's office
DeviceURI ipp://A.B.C.D/
State Idle
Accepting Yes
Shared Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>

I'll watch the behavior a bit more closely next time I have something to
print, but what I've seen through casual observation is that the
filter(s) start and the CPU goes to 100%. After a while, I hear the
printer starting and look down and the CPU is back at a normal level. I
haven't watched to see if there is any overlap. I have noticed this on
long print jobs where (assuming the first page isn't somehow much more
complicated than the other pages), pages should have started coming out
much earlier if pages were being spit to the printer as they became
ready. (Of course, this may be the fault of a filter.)

Thanks,
Scott
