logging messages to error_log with "INFO:" does not work

That's from the web interface; the INFO message is that one in double quotes.
It shows up in italics on the screen:

You are right, the messages isn't displayed by lpstat nor by lpq, but is saved in
printers.conf.

PS: my CUPS is 1.1.19 compiled from the sources on a UnixWare 7.1.0
