Ref: SuSE 10.1
Application: PrimaFax
Problem: How to install a cups faxprinter driver that I can use from other applications.

Seems the instructions below are for the lpd/lprng. When I look in SuSE /etc/printcaps says is generated by /etc/printcap.conf. When I look into this file I am not sure how to modify it. The format is different that what is in the snip below.
I have been searching for this answer for few days without success so I came here for help. THXS

This is quoted from the manual

<<<<<<<<<<<<
Using fxfilter - PrimaFax includes the fxfilter program to pass Postscript or text data to the PrimaFax program

Installing and using the fax printer (fx)- You can create a standard print queue to create fax documents, and this is needed by some applications. Once this is created, the lpr -Pfx command will pass Postscript or text data to the PrimaFax program and programs that select a print queue can use 'fx' just like they use 'lp' and other printers. Printer setup is done differently on various Linux distributions, so the fax printer queue (fx) must be manually installed. To do this, edit your /etc/printcap file and create a new section for fx that is like your other printers but using /dev/null for the :LP= device and fxfilter for the :if= filter. For example, on many Linux distributions the new section will look like this (assuming that you've installed the PrimaFax files in /home/PrimaFax):
 fx:\
     :sd=/var/spool/lpd/fx:\
     :sh:\
     :mx#0:\
     :LP=/dev/null:\
     :if=/home/PrimaFax/fxfilter:
You must also create the :sd= spool directory and set its owner.group setting and file permissions to match the other spool directories on your Linux system.
