Thank you Angel, with your help it appears we have resolved the problem.


I only got one hit on cpu (I never thought of using that specific term
to search with) and it directed me to a value called FilterLimit, which
ours was set at 0 (wide open).  I changed this value to 1000 and stopped
and restarted CUPS and have had no further problems with system issues.

I am not quite sure what specifically this addresses as I would like to
know more than I do but my users are very happy now with the increase in
response time from the server.

Search for the word "cupsd" or "cpu" and you may just find the
answer you're looking for.

Or, upgrade to CUPS 1.2.
