That's a wrong question to ask. You should file a bug with gentoo -
ghostscript is a postscript interpreter, and the postscript
standard essentially only requires a postscript
interpreter to carry the standard 13 fonts (and later on, the standard
35). Any other fonts is supposed to be embedded in the document.

(what the gentoo customization, is to open the case
of the printer and flash the ROM with some random rubbish 
and expect the printer to work better).
