Hi,
I installed cups-1.2.1 from source (Sparc E450, Sun Solaris 8) and now I'm getting the following error messages and the web gui is very slow.
Right after the start:
Hostname lookup for "/usr/local/cups/var/run/cups/cups.sock" failed!
Bad Listen address /usr/local/cups/var/run/cups/cups.sock at line 18.
There is a config option for the socket in cupsd.conf:
Listen /usr/local/cups/var/run/cups/cups.sock
And a lot of these messages:
cupsdUpdateCGI: error reading from CGI error pipe - No such file or directory
cupsdUpdateCGI: error reading from CGI error pipe - No such file or directory
cupsdUpdateCGI: error reading from CGI error pipe - No such file or directory
cupsdUpdateCGI: error reading from CGI error pipe - No such file or directory
Debug level:

[CGI] Returning at file position 2468 on character '}'...
[CGI] Finished "{SECTION=printers", out=ff1c0294...

The web gui is sometimes horrible slow and it takes minutes to get to the Administration page (browser proxy settings are disabled for this host). The cpu loads is then very high too.
I did just a simple './configure --prefix=/usr/local/cups', make, make install, added a printer, disabled browsing with 'Browsing No' because we are in a large /16 network.
Is there anything more I have to do to get cups running without these errors on Solaris? BTW: I have successfully added a printer (HP4050) and I can use this printer.
Ralf
