With the HP LIP USB issue as an example, you'll just have to decide
whether it is worth the trouble to use the HP backend or to try the
(experimental!) new USB backend code that is sitting in STR #1575.

As "integrators", you'll have to deal with any problems that come
up with non-CUPS software, but I'd advise a conservative approach
to minimize the amount of frustration your users experience - a
cool new driver/feature is useless if it doesn't work smoothly with
everything else.
