NumCopies and collate support for cups raster

I'm playing "-n 3" (three copies) and "-o collate=True" option with cups.

Comparing the output of pstops filter.
ps.1 723299
ps.3 723546 (-n 3)
ps.3collate 2095183 (-n 3 -o collate=True)

It clearly says that pstops driver handles collate=True option. Should pstops filter also modify argv[4] (copies) in the commandline to 1 (in the case of collated copy)?

It creates great confusions for filters down stream. How can rastertoxxx filter, foomatic-rip, or what ever the next filter is decide what @PJL SET COPIES to put?
