snmp backend crashes when debug is set

When the snmp backend is run from command line on Solaris 10 sparc with
debug set ....

  # CUPS_DEBUG_LEVEL=3D2 /opt/sfw/cups/lib/cups/backend/snmp

it crashes and produces a core file.

See attached file for output log from backend/snmp and the deugger on the
core file.
