Canon i560, Pixus 2.4.1 drivers, Cups 1.1.99; filter crashes on signal 11

I'm stumped.

Running Ubuntu 6.04, Gnome 2.14, samba 3.0.2 with a printer that behaved well
until recently (frequent package upgrades on this unstable distro).  Printer is
hooked to an XP box that shares the printer.

Can anyone help me to interpret the error_log and solve the problem ?

Printer is visible on port 631, will print test pages, and will even print with Canon s800 drivers (another 4 cartridge printer) though output is worse-than-draft quality.


Permissions of /var/cache/cups/ppds.dat are 600; owner is cupsys; group is lpadmin
