The Mac is recognising the CUPS server and sending the print jobs, they are appearing in the jobs log on the server, but they're all being aborted. When I try to reprint (via the web interface), I'm getting a client-error-not-possible error. Looked at the FAQ page for this error, but it wasn't very helpful.

I'm happy to provide any more info if required. Sorry for the long post - just wanted to detail my problem properly

Thanks for your reply - I'm not sure what you mean by installing the printer directly. I've connected it direct via USB and it installs using the Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2 driver. When it automatically identifies the printer from the server it uses the Foomatic/cdj550 driver.
I think when you mean install the printer directly you're saying I should manually add the printer (and force it to select a particular driver?).
Using the Add Printer option in the CUPS web inteface, it begins with 3 fields 'Name' 'Location' and 'Description'. What is the Location and Desription I should use?
Thanks,
Jacob
