is this right? because the pdf is a4. so how could it not fit on
a4-paper when the pdf-size is used?

however, fitplot has no visible affect on the printing.
i could send you the debug output with fitplot if you think it helps.

what do you mean by that and how do i check for that?

i am using gentoo just with the standard cups ebuild installed.
