HELP: Configure CUPS server to use a proxy server

I found this message from 2004 experiencing the (nearly)
issue I'm trying to solve (albeit I need to solve this
on a MacOS X 10.4 box).

I need to use http based IPP printing through a proxy
under MacOS X 10.4. Has anyone successfully printed
through a proxy via CUPS??

Thanks.
