[cups.general] Jobs disappearing

Problem solved.

In the /etc/cupsd.conf file I had to change the following:

199 - PreserveJobHistory Yes.......uncomment
even though this is the default,
it did not seem to be working, not sure why.
213 - AutoPurgeJobs No.............uncomment
even though this is the default,
it did not seem to be working, not sure why.
206 - PreserveJobFiles Yes.........(from No)
228 - MaxJobs 0....................(from 500)

After changing the last and final setting and restarting CUPS each time,
the jobs are now in the /var/spool/cups as dxxxxx-xxx so that we can
actually see the files now when we need them.

It appears that what was happening is the fact that the files had
reached 500 and instead of going FIFO (first in first out) it was going
FILO (first in last out) which is to say that the later files were being
deleted and the flag MaxJobs set at 500 was preserving the FIRST 500 and
not the last 500 which is what I would have expected. Guess that is
what I get for thinking.

Anyway, wanted to let everyone know that we have resolved this issue and
are now able to work smoother.

If anyone understands why the issue with keeping the first 500 and not
the last 500, we would like to know.

Thanks again, have a GREAT day!

I am still perplexed by this problem and wondering if anyone has
anything new to add as I still do not have a solution.

Is the 'AutoPurgeJobs No' in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf the correct item
to uncomment? Is there something that I am missing that works in tandem
with this setting? Please help, I really need to get this working
properly.

Thank you in advance for any help with this as I don't seem to be able
to get the jobs (the dxxxx-xxx files) to stay in the /var/spool/cups
directory.

Have a GREAT day!

Job requests are stored in /var/spool/cups as dxxxxx-001 and they use to
stay there, now they are not as they seem to be purging off of the
system after the job has printed.

I have uncommented 'AutoPurgeJobs No' in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and the
jobs are still getting purged.

Am I missing something? This was changed by another user but we don't
know what was changed and all my research told me to uncomment the
AutoPurgeJobs No and that should have taken care of it.

Thanks for any clarification...I am really at a loss on this one.

Have a GREAT day!
