Hello!

I am have been searching a longer period of time for the following situation:

SuSE 10.0, CUPS, HP DJ850C und LJ 1100.

The printers could be set up via YaST or CUPS with no problems and can be accessed. But a little problem still persists:

The only thing the printers are printing of e. g. a test page (YaST, CUPS) is one probably endless line, wich won't be printed over the right margin of the page. This line consitsts of a line of concatenationed (control) codes / characters / sequences like e.g. ;e;&l26ao01;&l0m;*rc;*t600r;*r-1u;*p0y; and so on. Than I have to press the FF button to release the page.

For the HP DJ850C I tried all different drivers available from CUPS. All with the above described behavior. Well, with one exception. The PCL 3 driver did not produce any output at all. That is confusing me. Because I thought all HP printer understand PCL3, but don't care.

A echo "bla" > /dev/lp0 was printed.

Which SW layer is between printer driver and the device file which could be produce complications?

The priner HP DJ850C worked with a SuSE 9.1 box without any problems.

Has anyone an idea who to solve this behavior?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Rgds.

        Michael
