Windows cannot install the cups drivers

I'm having the same problem. I built myself cupsaddsmb v1.2 from source and successfully installed the driver. At least, everything looks fine:

However, WinXP and Win2K both complain about not having the driver. When I double-click to install, it connects and gives me a queue window. But when I try to open the "properties", it then tells me I don't have the driver installed and asks if I want to search for one.
If I hit "no", I'll get the properties dialog but with only the queue settings (no printer configuration). Print Test Page is successful, though! So... What am I doing wrong?
