Hanging Remote Printer

I just finished setting up a NFS system on my computers 'host gateway' and 'host hp'. They ping each other and I can read exported files from one or the other.

My print setup is: host gateway - directly connected (usb) to epson, remotely connected to host hp - deskjet.

host hp  - directly connected (parallel) to deskjet, remotely connected to host gateway - epson.

Print jobs sent remotely apparently get to their respective printers, however, they don't print:

A typical look at a job sent remotely from gateway to hp is:

Active       User       Title     Printer      State       Size (kb)

1            rick      TestPage    Deskjet     pending      15

How do I get the file to print out?????????
