password on the localhost

Hi all,

I am just configuring printer epson dx3850
in suse 9.2.Since it failed via yast,I wanted
to do it manually following the web page of epson.
What I manage is to install needed file:

pips-scx3700-cups-2.6.3-1.i386.rpm

1)How to do reset the cups?
Any help is welcome ;(((

2)Looks like I do not remember my password
on the localhost,I thought it is the same as root
but it is not. Could I change it somehow?
