[cups.general] thermal postscript printer

/* Please forgive my complete and utter ignorance with respect to printing.
*/

I'm printing to a device that works with the generic postscript driver
shipped with CUPS in CentOS 4. Printing works great and CUPS rocks. The
device is a thermal printer, and it would also be nice if I could somehow
only use as much paper as required.

For instance, if I print the cups test page, it uses the equivalent of one
sheet of US Letter paper. If I do "lpr /etc/resolv.conf"--a file with only
four lines of text--the same amount of paper is used.

Is there a setting I can set in the administration interface or in
printers.conf to somehow say "only use as much paper as needed" or "this is
a thermal printer, behave accordingly"?
